History of Sanken Constructions (Pvt) Ltd

1977

Mitsui Construction Company Japan commences its operations in Sri Lanka.

1984

Under the Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC), Mitsui Construction Company Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., is incorporated and authorised to carry out civil construction work.

1985

Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC) authorisation is extended to include the leasing/hiring of industrial equipment.

1988

Mitsui Construction Company Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., changes its name to Sanken Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.

Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC) approvals are extended to cover the construction of middle and upper-class housing and commercial complexes.

Sanken Lanka receives Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC) approval to carry out overseas construction work and employ relevant staff.

1991

Approval for the sale of Readymix concrete is granted.

Sanken Lanka is awarded ISO Certification for Readymix concrete by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI).

2003

Change in ownership with the merger of Mitsui Construction Company with Sumitomo Corporation of Japan.

Ownership becomes 90% Sri Lankan and 10% Japanese.

2011

Sanken Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., changed its name to Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd.

Sanken Construction is an ICTAD C1 Graded (Highest Rank) company, with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) Certification.

2013

Sanken Construction certified with Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (BS OHSAS) 18001:2007 Certification.

2014

Sanken Construction certified with ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) Certification.

2015

Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd., has obtained Highest Grade CS - 2 from CIDA.

2020

Ownership becomes 100% Sri Lankan.

2021

Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd certified with ISO 45001: 2018 Health and Safety (OH&S) Certification.
